Known for its university and famous scholars and writers, Cambridge became an organized settlement around 40 A.D. when Rome built a military outpost. Then, the renowned university began in the 1200s A.D. Today, the urban centre is a beautiful and prosperous university town. In and around the area are historic sites, and Cambridge attractions have other interesting sites such as these:
Arts Picture House
A small venue, this film theatre has a good selection of movies from which to choose. Another feature is a food and beverage bar. Guests can watch a movie and eat a meal or enjoy the beverage of choice.
Imperial War Museum Duxford
This fabulous museum at the Duxford Airfield has captivating war exhibits and a wide range of military vehicles and artefacts. Some of the aircraft on display are Hellcats, Concords and World War II Warbirds.
Kettle’s Yard
An English house with a wonderful art gallery, Kettle’s Yard one of the top art museums in the country. The facility has a permanent collection of works from the 1900s and also hosts contemporary masterpieces and exhibits from other art galleries.
Round Church
Cambridge has a rich Christian history and several amazing church buildings. The Round Church was built in the 1100s A.D.
University of Cambridge
Visiting the historic University is a walk into the past with the architecture, but the past meets modern life as students of today prepare for future careers. Private tours tell many stories and information about the specific buildings and the educational institution.
